CVS 9/30

I think I made my last trip of the week to CVS tonight. I figured I've "cleared off" the shelves enough this week so I'll just wait until they restock to finish out the shopping ;) LOL! Here is what I picked up:

Fruitopia shampoo $1.99
used $2 Fruitopia coupon (Reinventing Beauty mag)
Viologie shampoo $1.99
used $2 Viologie coupon (Reinventing Beauty mag)
Covergirl Simply blush $10
Covergirl foundation $6.69, get $5 wyb $15 in CG products
used $1 CG coupon
used "buy foundation get CG product free" coupon (-$10)
Sensodyne toothpaste $4.99 (raincheck item), get $3
used $1 Sensodyne coupon
used $1.50 Sensodyne CRT
used $5/$25 CVS flu quiz coupon
=$4.23 OOP, received $8 ECBS

It was a great little trip tonight! I built up my ECBs without using any to start with :) Can't complain about that huh?

Oh, and did you notice that I had a raincheck? Guess someone cleared the shelves before me ;)

I received my first public bashing last night. You can read the comment left HERE. I don't really even know what to say, it makes me sad that someone is going to judge me like that. I love the fact that they assume I was the one who cleared out the shelves. I would NEVER do that. I have gone into CVS only to see the items are already gone. That's why I get a RAINCHECK!! And obviously they haven't been reading my blog very long since they think I shop at Target. I've gone there TWO times since the May incident. They did spend quite a bit of time on my blog yesterday though (26 min. 15 sec. to be exact) so at least they saw that I do donate a lot to charity. I wonder if they ever thought that maybe by having a garage sale to sell some of the extra stuff that also helps me afford the items I'll be donating in the FUTURE. As far as selling items to family and friends, yes it makes me money but it also saves them a TON of money. Some of them do not have the time to coupon the way I do. This enables them to get the great deals that I have found without doing the work.

Sorry to be such a downer this morning but that comment has been bugging me since I read it yesterday.

Oh, and in the future if you could post your name I could at least address you properly.

Coward.

Coupon Book

Don't forget to pick up your CVS coupon book the next time you're there. I got mine this morning - all I had to do was ask for one at the pharmacy! There are a lot of great coupons. Some of my favorite:
$1 off Colgate
$2 off Huggies goodnites
$1 off Balmex
$1.50 off Excedrin

And because these are CVS coupons they can be combined with a manufacturer coupon! All coupons expire 12/31/09, so you'll have plenty of time to match these up with a sale.

A Great Week!

It is a great week at CVS! There are quite a few deals - I managed to do a few this afternoon. I spent most of Sunday getting ready for my couponing class (which is tomorrow night!) that I'm teaching at the college. I think I'm as ready as I'm going to be - wish me luck!!
Onto the deals. Here are the ones I scored today:
4 Tide detergents $6 each
use (4) $1 Tide coupons
Dawn dishsoap $1
use $.25 Dawn coupon
use $5/$25 CVS flu quiz coupon
use $13.98 ECBs
=$2.73 OOP, received $10 ECBs

Gillette Fusion razor $9.29, get $5
use $4 Fusion coupon
Vaseline sheer lotion $7.99, get $7
Covergirl simply ageless blush $10
Covergirl foundation $6.69, get $5 wyb $15 in CG products
use CG buy foundation get CG face product free
use $1 Covergirl coupon
$5/$25 CVS flu quiz coupon
use $4 ECBs
=$2.48 OOP, received $17 ECBs

Looking at my receipt for the Covergirl deal there is an extra $5.99 coupon that was taken off. I have no idea what that coupon would be for but it would explain why my OOP was so low. I had originally decided to do this deal at the last minute because I thought it would be a great way for me to use the $10 ECB from the Tide deal. But because my OOP was less than $10 after all my coupons I was unable to use it.

I will probably repeat these deals on Mike's card since you can't beat getting free makeup AND very, very cheap Tide!

Did I miss some deals? Please share if you found some great deals at CVS!

Free Books Have Arrived!

I posted about this deal back in July (HERE) - Logan & Noah received their books in the mail this past week. They should get one free book a month until they are 5 years old. We'll see if that happens, I'm just happy that they each got one free book ;)

CVS 9/24

It was a pretty slow week at CVS. I did want to get some pop though and I had a $5/$25 to use. I found a couple of good deals:
2 desk lamps $1.25 each
2 8 pc. sets of silverware $2.49 each
Reinventing Beauty magazine $.99
4 boxes of wheat thins $1 each

use (4) $1 Wheat thins IP coupons
compass & protractor $1.50 each, get $1.50 (raincheck item)
Colgate toothbrush $.99, get $1
Mt. Dew $3
3 Dr. Pepper $3 each, get $3
use (3) $1 Dr. Pepper coupons (peelies)
use $5/$25 CVS coupon (flu quiz)
use $11.98 ECBs
= $5.69 OOP, received $7 ECBs

I did lose some ECBs but I got some great deals. The two desk lamps also have $2 mail-in-rebates attached so I'll send off for those. Once I get the $4 from those it will drop my OOP to only $1.69!! Thanks goes to sluggy for posting about the lamps :)

They've Changed Again

Today I decided to risk it - I went to Target. I had printed out some great coupons to use there and I actually found some great deals. I did forget to print out the Target Kellogg's Pop-tart coupons but looking at my receipt it looks like I need to go back because I was charged full price for the salad dressing. As I walked toward the check-out I noticed all the new coupon signage that I had read about on other blogs. I didn't really think I would have that different of an experience at my Target but I was wrong! One of my favorite cashiers rung me up and informed me that they will take all target coupons (even the same ones) in one transaction - so no more splitting them up. Yay! And if you bring reusable shopping bags to use they will credit your purchase 5 cents/bag used. I could not believe it! It almost makes me want to put Target back on the list of places that I shop - Almost :) Here is my shopping trip from today:3 stretchable book covers $.17
2 blunt tip scissors $.58
4 cans Earth's best baby food $.89 each
6 cans Gerber baby food $.72 each
Bounce dryer bar $3.74
used $1.50 Bounce coupon
used $1.50 Bounce Target coupon
2 Wishbone salad dressings $2.34 & $1.94 (should have been 2/$3)
used (2) $.75 Wishbone coupons
used $.75/2 Wishbone Target coupon
3 Cranium games $9.99 each
used (3) $5 Hasbro Target coupons
6 Air Wick i-motion air fresheners $5.99 each
used (6) $6 Air Wick coupons!!!
12 bottles Skintimate shaving gel $1.89 each
used (12) $1 Skintimate coupons
used $2.01 Target gift card
=$39.89 OOP!

You can get most of the Target coupons by clicking HERE.

My total before coupons was over $110! This was a great shopping trip to Target except for the fact that once I got home and looked at my receipt I saw that I was charged incorrectly for the salad dressing. I'll have that corrected later this week. Other than that though, a very nice trip and I have some more toys to put in my ever growing gift closet :)

Great Target Finds!

I try to avoid shopping at Target most of the time. I just cannot stand their horrible customer service. Since my MAY shopping experience (click HERE to read about it) I have maybe shopped there 4 times. Mainly to buy free or almost free items. I stopped there today to try to find the Hungry Hungry Hippos travel game and thought I would check out their summer stuff. I didn't find the game but I did hit the jackpot on the summer/school items. All of their summer and school stuff is 75% off! Look at what I got:3 Shark Attack water toys $5.98 each
Jungle pool $5.98
Preschool scissors $.58
3 J&J Buddies soaps $.97 each
use (3) $1 J&J coupons (adjusted down to $.97)
14 packs of Bic pens $.25 each!!
use (4) $1/2 Bic coupons
use $3.49 gift card
=$22.36 OOP

I could not pass up the awesome pool and pool toys! Logan will have a blast with them next summer and the pool will be perfect for Noah since it will have built in shade :) I had 7 of the Bic coupons which is why I bought 14 packs. I had figured they would adjust down that coupon too since they did on the J&J ones. The cashier called a manager over (for some reason she thought they wouldn't be able to accept the Bic coupons) and instead of adjusting down each coupon he just took four of them instead. Fine by me since I made $.50 by buying the pens. But now I'll have to go back there and buy the remaining packs and see how that experience goes. I will take my receipt from today with in case they hassle me about the coupons. Stay tuned for Target drama ;)

CVS 9/15

I made a couple of trips to CVS today. The ad isn't that great this week but I had to roll some of my ECBs so I HAD to go. I also found some ECBs that had expired and in the past my CVS' have not accepted expired ones. I was almost sick since I had close to $10 in ECBs that had expired back on 9/11. I got to the store and approached one of the managers. I explained to her that I had a couple of expired ECBs and wondered if they ever accepted them. I told her I had read on a couple of blogs that some stores do take them. She asked to see them and said that since they were from the same calendar month she would take them! I was SO happy :) Sue, if you're reading this, you're the best!! Here are my transactions:My card:
3 Air Wick mini Freshmatics $4.99 each
use (3) $4 Air Wick coupons
Colgate toothpaste $2.99, get $2
use $1 Colgate coupon
2 Dyna-Pep energy shots $4.99, get $4.99
Glade diffuser $6.99, get $6.99 (raincheck item)
use $3 Glade coupon
use $18.50 ECBs
=$1.99 OOP, get $18.98 ECBs!!

Mike's card:
6 Air Wick mini Freshmatics $4.99 each
use (6) $4 Air Wick coupons
Colgate toothpaste $2.99, get $2
use $1 Colgate coupon
2 Dyna-Pep energy shots $4.99, get $4.99
CVS Cocoa butter lotion $.99
use Try me Free CVS CRT
use $8.96 ECBs
=$11.52 OOP, get $11.98 ECBs

I could not pass up the great deal on the Air Wick mini's! They sold so well at the garage sale that I figure I can keep these until I have the next one. I did pay quite a bit for the second purchase but that was mainly because I didn't have the ECBs to cover the cost of the energy shots. While digging out my ECBs to use I found TWO more that had expired :( I asked the cashier at the second store if I could use them and she didn't know. She explained her manager wouldn't be in for another hour and she didn't want to take them without her approval. Tomorrow I might go up to the other store and use those ECBs. I have no idea why I missed those ECBs and let them expire. I'm going to have to keep better track of them!

I still have more Air Wick coupons to use and some of those expire on the 20th so I'm going to pick some more of them up. I also noticed at the one location they were finally getting some of their school items restocked. I have a ton of rainchecks for those still so I might try to get those used up. We'll see how it goes.

Garage Sale Results

The garage sale was a HIT! I cannot believe how well it went. I am still shocked. At this time of year my little town has an International Pow Wow - meaning that according to the numbers there were an additional 22,000 people here over the weekend. For some reason it has become a tradition for people to have garage sales while the Pow Wow is in town. And for some reason they are a HUGE success! For example we live south of one particular street where almost every other house has a garage sale. Starting on Thursday of Pow Wow weekend that street becomes completely packed with people walking up & down it trying to find the best deals. This, of course, worked to my complete advantage since I just had to put out two signs directing people to our house.

I didn't really expect almost ALL of my stockpile stuff to sell but it did. When I packed up the stuff at the end of the sale I had enough left to fill ONE plastic tote! That's it!! I made over $300 on the stockpile stuff alone :) And we managed to sell all of our big item stuff that didn't sell at our other garage sale (in May). AND the biggest, best thing is the fact that I had TWO people ask if I would be willing to travel to their cities to teach a couponing class like the one I'll be teaching here at the end of the month. I am SO excited about this!!

Ok, enough about all that - here are some pictures:
These pictures were taken the night before the sale. When the sale ended I MAYBE could have filled the little card table on the left. I think I filled the tables about 3 times. Friday night after I closed up I had to run over to my Mom's and raid her stockpile!
I am now debating about possibly having a couple stockpile sales this winter. I would have to host those in our basement since it's too cold here to even have them in the garage but I think they would be pretty popular. Any suggestions?

BTW, because of the sales from this one garage sale I have now basically been paid over $50 for shopping at CVS since the beginning of the year! That's not even counting the $165 I made at the first garage sale :)

Walmart Trip 9/14

The boys and I ran up to Walmart this morning to see if the summer stuff had been marked down some more (it had not). The trip wasn't a total bust though, I got some great deals using some coupons I had on hand. I got everything in the picture for less than $10!!
6 Yoplait yogurts $.58 each
use (2) $.60/3 Yoplait IP (no longer available)
Yoplus yogurt $2.50
use $1 Yoplus coupon
2 Pillsbury Grand biscuits $1.68 each
use (2) $1 Pillsbury IP
2 McCormick black pepper $1.46 each
use (2) $1 McCormick IP
2 cans Campbells soup $1.32 each
use (2) $1 Campbells soup IP
6 Klondike ice creams $1 each
use (6) $1 Klondike IP
Jack Link's jerky $7.67
use Get One Free coupon (All You mag)
2 Edward's single desserts $2 each
use (2) $1 Edward's coupons
Walmart brand flour $1.74
Westerns movie pack $5
Spiderman umbrella $6
use (7) $1 Discover coupons (9/13 insert)
=$15.10 OOP!!

The movie that I bought is for my Grandpa for Christmas. We had bought one for him previously but exchanged it for this one. So with that return factored in I spent less than $10 :) The Spiderman umbrella was just too cute to pass up and Logan's other umbrella is bent so this was the perfect replacement.

I was hoping to buy some Oscar Mayer lunchables packs but I couldn't find the ones with the water included (I had coupons for them, but they had to have the water). I also could not find the J&J buddies soaps - there was not even a sign for them at the store anymore!! Does anyone know if those are still sold? I was hoping to use the $1 coupons that were in the Sunday paper.

Did you find any great deals at Walmart that I missed? Let me know! Thanks Deal Seeking Mom for most of the coupon match-ups. Visit her blog for even more coupons to use at Walmart!

Garage Sale Time

I'm having a garage sale this weekend - wish me luck! I have made over $175 selling just my stockpile items alone! I cannot believe it's been going that well. I actually have to run over to my Mom & Dad's and take some of her stockpile items. Since it's been going well so far I'm starting to think that maybe I'll try to have some stockpile sales this winter.

CVS Trip

I was so excited when I walked into CVS on Monday and noticed that their summer merchandise was clearanced to 75% off! I just wish I could have gone on Sunday - we really need a new cooler and of course those were gone by the time I got there. Here is what I was able to grab though:2 Lorna Doone cookies $2
2 Oreo cookies $2
1 Nutter Butter $1, get $1 wyb 5
used (2) $.75 Nabisco coupons
Venus Breeze razor $8.99, get $3
used $2 Venus coupon
Sensodyne toothpaste $4.99, get $3
used $1 Sensodyne coupon
Aquafresh toothpaste $4.99, get $3

Aqua shoes $1.75
Turtle sand toy $2.49
used $5/$25 CVS coupon (readyfill quiz)
used $7.99 ECBs
=$12.72 OOP, received $10 ECBs

I might return the Venus razor. The only reason I had originally purchased it was so that I would be over the $25 mark - but since I bought some clearance items I was able to get over that amount.

The other items in the picture are also some CVS clearance merchandise. I bought them at the other store but I have misplaced the receipt.
